I understand McGill is rolling admissions, has anyone received an acceptance or rejection yet? If so when did you apply? When do most people hear? Thanks.

I think they start looking at applications on the 15th

McGill does not have rolling admissions. Decisions for American students are released starting in late January for those applications that are complete. Other decisions are released soon after the application is complete e.g McGill may request first term grade 12 results from some applicants before making a decision. .

^thats called rolling admission

Rolling admisssions, at least as used in the US, means that as soon as the application file is complete, a decision is released, even before the application deadline. Some American schools release decisions as early as October.

McGill does have rolling admissions, as in, the sooner you apply, the sooner you get accepted (but not before the 15th).

I got an email on the 14th telling me that my admission decision was made! I checked the website and for both faculties the status had switched from “Ready to Review” to “Admitted Pending Final Results.”

I have not sent in my midterm grade reports yet, so I think that is what this status means. It also says I’ll be getting a letter in the mail explaining this.

btw. I submitted my application on Nov. 25, and my transcripts were received Dec. 16–completing my applicatione.

Congrstulsations madrigal93! Looks like decisions are coming out early this year. “Admitted Pending Final Results” means you are in pending graduation from high school.

My application says “further review required.” I wonder if that means they need my midyear grades before they’ll make a decision? That doesn’t bode well for me.

don’t worry about it rachelmk, it doesn’t mean you are on the waitlist or anything. Your chances are still great.

wow congrats madrigal93! are you American? you must have stellar grades/scores bc i applied on sept 1 and they got my transcripts on sept 20. the waiting is killing me haha!

Congrats madrigal!
btw- do they release your admission decision and major scholarship decision at the same time? or is it possible to be accepted before you’ve completed the scholarship application?

Nice job, madrigal93 ! I’m also wondering if you’re American?

And rachelmk, I’m in the same boat as you when it comes to midterm grades =/

when did you apply aspire2011? i applied sept 1 and mine still says “ready for review”.

Thanks everyone! and yeah, I am American. (does that help me or hurt me?) I also applied to the BA of Art and Sciences, if that means anything as well.

@ilikebananas, I’m pretty sure your scholarship apps don’t need to be filled out in order for you to get accepted, but don’t quote me on that. I’m not a hundred percent sure.

madrigal, if you dont mind, would you share your stats? I’m American as well, and applied to the same thing as you, so I’d just like an idea of whether I have a chance or not.

Sure.

SAT 1: 2210, CR: 760, W: 730 (essay: 12), M: 720 (only took them once)
SAT 2: Bio: 720, Lit: 740, Math 2: 660 (bad day)

GPA: 3.9UW, 4.4W (All A’s in required subjects, a B+ in freshman science, phy-chem, and a B in AP Stats for first quarter senior year)

APs (Junior Year), Bio (5), Lit (5), US Gov (5), Calc AB (4)

Current Schedule, AP Chem, Stats, Lang, Art History, Con Law, Gym, Creative Writing

Couple of other factors that might have played a part in my app (good and bad): I have 6 math credits from 4 years of high school and 5 science credits because I have doubled up on these subjects. I only have 3 years of a language because AP French was not offered. Also, all Honors classes all four years of HS.

ilikebananas, what other schools are you looking at?

Impressive stats - no wonder you got accepted so quickly! Congratulations!

My app status has said ready to review since my file was completed mid-November. My semester ends this week so I’m hoping to get those mid-year grades mailed early next week. The wait kills me, but I’ll probably be hearing back from McGill sooner than the American schools!

Hey, I’m another American who got in (well, actually I have dual American/Canadian citizenship, but I live in the US)! Then again, I did apply back in September. I also got the one-year undergraduate entrance scholarship, but I’m still waiting on the major renewable entrance scholarship. Under status it just says “in-process.” Anyone know how long it’ll take before I get a decision?

i am so jealous of the two of you who have already gotten in… what does anyone think my chances are for PEMSC Science program are with a 30 ACT, 2050 SAT (1410 CR and Math), and 3.9 GPA unweighted?
