Does Music Education (B.M.) Exist?

I'd be ecstatic if I could be admitted to the Thornton School of Music at USC, but whether I'm good enough or not... Eh, I guess I'll see.

Anyways, I've been a little confused at the existence of a Music Education undergrad degree (I know that there is a Music Ed graduate degree). The information that I look at seems to not be able to make up its mind...

The USC viewbook that was sent to me did not list Music Education as an available major.

The 2006 undergrad application doesn't list Music Education as a major that I can choose, either.

This link - http://www.usc.edu/academics/undergraduate/majors/g-o.html) - lists "Music Education - Bachelor of Music" as an available degree (it's 7 from the bottom), yet when you click it, it doesn't list B.M. under "Degrees Offered", only M.M., M.M.E., D.M.A., and M.A.

This other link - http://www.usc.edu/dept/publications/cat2003/music/ - lists music degrees offered in the catalogue, and goes into extreme detail about the "Bachelor(!) of Music in Music Education" degree, including the exact number of units and courses required to complete the degree. However, the link says it's the 2003 catalogue, so if it's out-of-date, I don't know...

Can anybody clue me in as to what's going on? I have my heart set on Thornton (even if it's too expensive for the family...), and Music Ed would be the ideal major for me, seeing as I hope to teach privately from my home one day.

I will call USC up if I can't get a definitive answer here, but it'd be awesome if anybody could enlighten me.

Help?

Yes, it does. In Thornton, the Bachelor of Music degree is the general degree everyone gets, with plenty of specific specializations like vocal studies, instrumental performance, etc. In the 2005-2006 catalogue, Music Education is listed as one of these concentrations.

Would there happen to be a degree in which the education aspect encompasses the whole degree, rather than being just a portion of it?

Also, are you talking about the Bachelor of Arts in Music? I know that the Music B.A. degree studies music in a very general sense, as it's a B.A. rather than a B.M.

And thanks for your input :)
