I've seen enough of these threads and thought only how much the OP can't think for himself...well ironically here I am, asking myself about a senior schedule.

I'm asking on here because while it may appear rigorous enough, ad coms will probably know that two of the classes are actually a breeze for me.

Senior year schedule:

First Semester

Honors Latin 4 (no availability of AP)
AP Computer Science
AP Calculus BC
AP English (Lang)
Engineering Concepts (it's not AP/honors but I would the class to explore the different engineering fields and also it will look good taking a class related to my major)

Second Semester

Honors Latin 4
AP Computer Science
AP Calculus BC
AP English (Lang)
AP Macro Economics
AP Phychology
(an extra class this semester but that is b/c I wil take a zero hour this semester)

While my second semester schedule is not bad, my first semester is a blow off by far!
Here's why: Latin has always been a joke class (love it anyways)
Computer Sci is a review as I already know Java
Calc BC is a review the first semeste because I already took on Calc AB this year
Enlgish is actually hard
And Engineering concepts isnt even honors

So what do you think of my schedule? Is good enough for top engineering colleges like UIUC? Personally I think the schedule itself is fine on first glance, it's just that I already know the classes.

Thank you.

For UIUC it is rigorous enough, but for MIT or Caltech it’s way too late to be taking Calc BC—I was worried about not having it until junior year given that so many people do it sophomore year now—and Comp Sci. Engineering classes are not bad so long as you express a strong interest in engineering.

I think you should be okay.

Chance me?
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1507605-chance-hispanic-2400-ivies-mit-cambridge-will-chance-back.html

UIUC is a large, state school (albeit an excellent one) that generally sticks to their formula for admission. They simply have too large a volume of applications for their limited staff to review every application in-depth. You should be fine there, especially in-state.

For the most selective private schools, the decision will rest largely on the adcoms’ impression of your high school. If you and your peers (and especially recent alums) have done well on AP tests and standardized tests, you will do better than if your high school has a spotty record.

^ Interesting to know that. I would be very curious to know how my schools does on tests.

Anyways I’m glad that UIUC will sort of overlook the easy first semester. Really, I did not expect it to be so ridiculously easy but I guess that will give me mor time for college apps and programming.

It does make sense UIUC would look over these things as their essays are short and the need for teacher recommendations is nonexistent.

I think your schedule sounds rigorous enough
