No, it’s not correct. Lectures and recitations both run on Friday. Lectures are a little less frequent, but a lot of recitations are on Friday.
It really depends on your schedule. Last year, when signing up for classes, I made sure to have Fridays off so I could work then, but that meant that my Monday through Thursdays were pretty full. When it comes down to it, there’s no one saying you must have class on a Friday, but you do have to fill your required credits and some of those required classes might only meet on Fridays.
There are some classes that meet on Fridays, but at least in my major and school, the majority of the classes did not. I only had a Friday class one of my semesters there and the majority of the people I knew did not have Friday classes.
