I got a 700 Chem, 730 Math II and 740 Chinese. (yea, 740 Chinese :( What a shame.....I am Chinese =,=)

I need the SAT I + 2 SAT IIs.
But I hope NYU to look at my Chem and Math II scores only......since they both are quite acceptable to NYU; however, my 740 Chinese is NO GOOD, considering the fact that I am Chinese T_T.

Will they take my Chem and Math II scores as part of the test requirement?

Wow. Just send all 3 in. I have a friend who is Korean but he doesn’t know half the stuff that comes out of his parents mouth when they converse in Korean. No ones perfect.

NYU does not require you to send them all, but they suggest it. I personally did not send all my SAT Subject Test scores because some of them were pretty bad, and they didn’t even need them since I sent in the ACT. I only sent them my two highest, Math Level 1 and 2, where were 700+.

But I would send all your scores. They’re all really good.

You’re just stressing youself out. Send them all, NYU only looks at your highest scores anyway. I had one SAT II that was bad (I got a 600) and the other two were good and I got in ED. Try not to stress too much, all of your SAT II scores are good.

I don’t think NYU places as much weight on SAT II scores, for example I applied Stern RD with a 630 in bio (i didn’t study one bit) but a 780 in Math IIc and I got admitted.

Hi, I am a junior in high school, and just like many kids, NYU STERN is my dream school. I read your comments for the other student, and I, myself had a question.Nathansin, you said that you got a 630 in bio, and a 780 in math 2C, well I took the bio sat2 as a freshmen in high school, and a got a 600 (i didn’t study a bit either), then as a sophomore I took the chem and I got a 690. I haven’t taken any math sat2’s and I wanted to know if I should take a math subject sat. As of now, my SAT 1’s score is a 1990 (690 in math, 660 in writing-- i was shocked because writing is usually my best section, actually though i did really well, but i guess not-- and a 640 in critical reading) but, I am planning on retaking that in October, so if I were to take a subject sat in math, I would have to do that in November. That means that I won’t be able to apply early decision tot STERN, and if I do apply early decision, I won’t have a subject sat score in math. What do you think I should do?

I’m pretty sure NYU accepts SAT II scores from November for ED but I’m not sure, you’re going to have to either call them or search through their admissions website.

As for your SAT scores, I’d say getting a higher SAT I score may help you out more taking SAT IIs because frankly, your 1300/1600 is very low for Stern standards, i daresay even for ED.

As for the SAT IIs, I strongly encourage you to take Math IIc and score high on it (750+) - I don’t think Stern really cares much about other SAT IIs besides math and maybe foreign languages since science isn’t going to be your main focus at Stern.

Hey, thank you Nathansin for answering, I really appreciate it. And yeah I will definitely try to raise my SAT score to, hopefully a 2200 or higher. If you don’t mind me asking, what was your score? The only reason I am asking is because you are a STERN graduate, so if I know what you got, I’ll set my goal to meet that score. Also, was your GPA really high too? I mean mine is a 4.1 as of now, so I was wonderin what you had when you applied? Thanks again for your help. =)

How much does an upward trend of GPA influence your admission? Because I screwed up pretty badly during my freshman year and towards the end of sophmore. But throughout my Junior year I worked my butt off and recieved 3.9-4.1s and hopefully that will continue for another year.

I’m pretty worried about this since I can study and improve SAT scores but it’s too late for my GPA…
