Does participating in William&Mary's summer On-Campus interview strengthen my application in any way? Like making me seem dedicated? What is W&M's goal in setting up these interviews? Just to provide us with information or a chance to assess our personality and potentially have that affect our applications?

My friend attended one and said it went really well. Had a 3.93 UW GPA, all honors/AP, volunteered countless hours at the hospital, and had pretty good recs. Was put on the waitlist and later rejected.

Yes. The interviews are evaluative and are part of your application. It is a wonderful way to show your personality.

they are a chance for you to strengthen your application. They are definitely not for W&M to tell you stuff about W&M.

interest shown in the school is not considered by admissions but if you have a great interview, they are evaluative and can certainly help your chances. so you should do one if you generally interview well/can talk about yourself for an extended amount of time.
I have mine in august and I’m really excited. good luck!

The interviews are designed to allow you to put your personality into the application (often something that’s hard to do through a two-dimensional paper application). They also allow you to discuss in more detail aspects you may share in your application. They are of course also optional.

Additionally, as they are conducted by W&M seniors, they also give you the opportunity to ask of a current student any questions you might have about W&M.

instate or out of state?

Not quite sure what you mean but interview are open to any prospective student if that’s what you’re asking.

Is there a spot on the WM website where the supplemental essay questions are listed? The common application is not going to be live until august 1st which doesn’t give students much summer time to toss ideas around before senior year resumes.

The W&M Supplement won’t go live until sometime in August or September (when the Common App goes live is not necessarily when schools’ supplements go live) but that still gives students 3-4 months before the W&M ED and Regular Decision deadlines. Plus there are no additional required essays on our Supplement, just an optional one.

Our 2011-2012 supplement is available on our website in PDF form ([William & Mary - Download an Application](http://www.wm.edu/admission/undergraduateadmission/applicationprocess/downloadapplication/index.php)) for students to view. We do not anticipate many changes to it for 2012-2013.

Thank you!

Could I submit an Optional Submission, Artistic Submission, AND a brief video (depicting any interests/skills I couldn’t depict in my essay/common app/interview) along with my Common Application and recommendations?

@MrSimpleSimple, you can certainly submit a fine art submission (as per the guidelines provided on our website) and a response to our optional submission but you don’t need to submit both of those and a video.

Generally we discourage submitting videos as your optional submission or as part of your application. The main reason is 1) we cannot guarantee that we will have the ability to view the video when we are reviewing applications and 2) we often find that if those videos are submitted on DVD they’re often formatted improperly and therefore not viewable. Some students choose to avoid these issues by putting them on YouTube but we consider all parts of your application to be confidential which is why we tend to discourage making them available on shared sites like YouTube.
