Does U Penn use 9th grade grades in calculating unweighted/weightd GPA?? or are they on a 10h/11th grade like most colleges??

no, all four as far as i know. It'd be cool if they excluded 9th grade, cuz then I'd have a 4.0 unweighted :( what colleges exclude 9th that u know of?

The only one I can think of off the top of my head is University of Michigan. However, most schools take freshmen year as less significant than the other years.

yea had i actually tried freshman year.. i think i could be top 5 (im 8/300 ish).. but i thought it was a joke so i decided not to try..

yeah penn takes freshman year =\
@26e
i hear that princeton doesnt look at freshman year grades and the UCs don't either

stanfurd in palo alto, california

pton doesnt check either i think.

God Im happy they take freshman year...it was my best year..straight A's haha..I had a 6.0...if only I had kept that up...i got three Bs my soph year and 2 junior year...

gee...um, if i get my SAT into the 1520/2220 range I'd have a shot at princeton, stanford with my 4.0? hmm.....food for thought

if only i knew about that before i applied early :(

j/k j/k j/k

oh no a B is the end of the world

Oh don't be one of those people cdeitz...its not the end of hte world..im the last person to flip out on B's...but bottom line is...if they were A's my GPA and rank would be much better and I would have a better shot

dude...deitz was being sarcastic

he was being sarcastic as to stress the fact that people are worried about getting Bs and its not a big deal...and I was just saying even though that is true...B's do lower your chances..not to say I am incredibly concerned with them..just stating hte truth

ya but if you had maybe 3 or 4 b's freshman year, a couple sophore year, and none junior year and early senior year, that would show a big upward trend, which always looks good! B's aren't necessarily bad, they just hurt your chances a bit!

I got credits in 8th grade because I had 9th grade classes (math, spanish, and science). Do you think those would be counted too?

only if they were on yor high school transcript

2 of my b's came in independent studies, surely upenn will realize this and consider it as initiative...

this fell fast

any other schools that'll give me a 4.0? ;)

culoe169- What king of independant study did you do??

alg II trig honors as a frosh, cuz my geometry teacher honestly hated me, and told me i should take alg II regular (i got a b in his class because i didn't do too well on notebook checks, lack of hw lol), and latin III, which i got a b- in but it's hard to learn a language when you don't go to class
