I know the boys in dorms rule but do students have a curfew? Would it be a problem if I stayed a weekend at USC? Could I technically sleep in my best friends dorm or apartment all the time if I wanted to or no?
If you don’t see the policy on the website, call the school’s Residential Life office and ask.
Could you sleep in some other dorm room beside your own at Pepperdine…all the time?
I’ll weigh in…
- Why would you want to do that?
- More importantly...don't you think your friend's roommate or suite mates might not like having an extra person in their room ALL the time?
- There is nothing prohibiting you from going away to other colleges on weekends. However, if younplan to do,this every weekend....why would you enroll at Peoperdine?
Honestly…from reading this and your other thread about the party scene at Pepperdine, I have to wonder why this school is even a consideration for you.
First of all, you did not even answer my question. I was asking because my best friend is going to USC and I wanted to know if I could stay with her a weekend. And about sleeping in someone else’s room, it was a hypothetical and I was asking for fact, not your opinion on whether or not someone would appreciate me crashing in their room. I did not say I planned to go to USC every weekend, I said a weekend, as in one, singular weekend. Your comment was unhelpful and laced with uncalled for judgment and condescension. If you would sincerely like to know why I am considering Pepperdine, you’re welcome to message me. @thumper1
- You can go to another college campus for the weekend if you are a student at Pepperdine.
- In terms of staying in another person's room "all the time" (your words,..not mine)...my answer stands. See 2 above.
“Could I technically sleep in my best friends dorm or apartment all the time if I wanted to or no?”
You DID ask about staying in someone’s dorm or apartment ALL THE TIME @isabelleban
@isabelleban , @thumper1 was not at all judgmental or condescending. Pepperdine is a conservative, religious school and you’re posting about partying, drinking, and staying out all night. There’s quite a noticeable mismatch there, and it’s natural to wonder why you would consider a school that’s so different from the environment you seem to want.
You would also need to check the USC policy on guests in dorms. You may also need a USC student ID to attend events on campus or on Greek row.
OP, I have to thank you for your questions. I apparently knew nothing about Pepperdine and didn’t realize it was affiliated with the Church of Christ. Beautiful location in Malibu, CA.
Pepperdine has a time that visitors have to be out of a dorm of the opposite sex by 2am. But yes, you can spend the weekend away from Pepperdine, there is not a curfew in that sense. It is not jail, you are free to come and go.
At USC, many of the buildings now have fingerprint scanning to get in, monitored by someone (not just at the door). I am guessing people get permission or find a way to get a guest in, but generally, spending the night in someone else’s dorm isn’t that cool/easy cause of room mate issues, etc. An RA may get wind and ask you to leave…In an apartment it is fine, but of course, the room mates have to agree with the plan.
Could it have something to do with a full-ride scholarship at Pepperdine?
Just curious as a former colleague with a personality one would think would be incompatible with Pepperdine as he admitted himself attended mainly because he was offered a full-ride for 4 years.
@cobrat
What kind of Stats did this colleague have that afforded them a full ride from Pepperdine?
Not sure as I only worked with him briefly before he was reassigned to another office in another state.
It did take a strain off of his parents and younger siblings…especially his father who was nearing retirement as a career solider(helicopter pilot).
