I will be applying to Boston College, UVA, UNC, UMich and Northeastern as an early action applicant and I was wondering if the quarter grade of 1st semester senior year matters. I’m just EXTREMELY worried because my teacher MISTAKENLY put C+ on my grade and he told me he would change it except the GRADE WAS supposed to be finalized by YESTERDAY AND HE SAID HES NOT SURE IF HE CAN CHANGE IT AND HES JUST “SORRY”.
Please help me and my dream school is boston college and i really want to get in and get it done with my college apps.
Actually the two first quarters (the first semester) is what matters for college admissions- after first semester, you can get a little bit (though not to the point of failing) of senioritis.
It does matter. I would talk to the teacher and guidance counselor. …if it was indeed an error there must be some way for the guidance counselor ot teacher to make a note of the error and/or make a correction manually before the transcript is sent out.
The answers here seem more confusing than question. The first quarter grades are not asked for at UVA and Michigan as far as I know. These schools ask for mid year grades which are SEMESTER grades. For EA they are not usually available. That is why they say to have a stellar record thru your junior year.
I agree. It does matter. The colleges need to know your still doing the work and earning the top grades. BC is going to want to see some solid A’s. BC tends to be abit stingy with aid as well. I hope you and your parents are ok with the net price you saw on the website.
Does anyone know what schools typically want to see 1st quarter grades and if they do is that listed on the Common app for those schools or do they separately ask applicants or the school to send them along? I imagine it would only be schools with EA, ED or SCEA. Nearly all seem to want a mid-year report though.
