Does Request for Financial Aid Doc Imply ED Acceptance?

Hello,

My daughter has applied ED to her first choice college. She needed to have completed her ED application and the school will notify her by Dec 15, as most schools will do for ED. On the financial aid side of things, we submitted the CSS Profile, or rather an estimate of those figures for 2010. Just today, Dec 10, we got an email from the school's financial office requesting copies of our prior year, 2009 tax return and W-2. The school's financial aid office had not listed this as a required document, at least it was not required before the Nov 15th submission date.

My supposition is that the financial aid office would not be requesting our 2009 tax docs at this time if they were not planning on accepting her ED. Naturally, my daughter would like that to be the case! We will certainly know in a few days, but can anyone else offer their opinion on whether this email request is a "good sign" or too soon to be speculating.

Thanks in advance.

I can’t say for certain, because it depends upon the school, but in my D’s case that is exactly what happened.

On the Friday before she was notified of her early decision acceptance, she received a request via snail mail for more financial aid information. We viewed it as a good sign, but we didn’t know for sure until the following Monday when the acceptance letter arrived.
