I recently received my last financial aid letter from Clarkson, who is giving me $30 in merit plus $5k in loans. It’d be like almost SUNY price for me to go there.
On the other hand, RPI is my top choice. Do you think that they’d increase my aid based off what other schools have offered me?
Doubtful from what I have heard, but it can’t hurt to ask.
We were successful in receiving a little more two years ago using offers from Clarkson & CWRU. Be specific about what you need and give it a go, the worst they can do is say no.
We were successful in 2012. I think it depends on what schools you have offers from (if they consider the other places equal or better, that will work in your favor), and how badly they want your student. Timing may be important also. If you ask earlier, there may be more funds in the pot, but if you ask later, and their yield isn’t what they expect, they may offer more then. Good luck. I haven’t tried it (yet- I’m going to when I hear back from Cornell) but it worked successfully for my cousin a few years ago.
