I'm only going out of 1600 since most schools don't put too much emphasis on Writing yet. (Luckily I did well on it). But which breakdown do you think looks best?

800 CR/ 700 M
750 CR/ 750 M
700 CR/ 800 M

I would put the 750 one first, because it shows you're balanced and the difference between a 750 and 800 is only a few dumb mistakes. Next I'd say the 800 CR (thats the breakdown I got, so I'm biased). Fewer kids get the perfect CR score, so I guess it's harder. IMHO, your ability to read in college is more important than if you know all the 3-4-5 triangles, especially since the new SAT seems to test math fundamentals more than your reasoning ability. Plus a CR score is probably more reliable since its harder to make dumb mistakes and it takes more errors before you score really starts suffering. So what do you guys think looks best?

Depends on intended major and college...Caltech & MIT may raise an eyebrow at any Math score below 800, but yeah, I think 800 CR is more respectable. 750/750 looks a little strange (it shows you have 1600 potential but a tendency to be sloppy)

That's true...I remember after taking the SAT sophomore year, one day I got to school and everybody started congratulating me on my SAT score. I hadn't told anyone, but evidently the teachers got so excited that they told their students (small school: 130 kids, 1000 average SAT)

Funny, I didn't feel any different afterwards...I was happy, of course, but I didn't think it was that big a deal, not worth telling anyone besides adcom...

yeah, i don't want to seem like a stalker or anything tanonev, but i really showed your post of your stats to my dad. And while I was reading it out, after a while my dad was like "no way, he's lying" .. and I convinced him that it was true, and he was so shocked when I got to the bottom of the post to where you were accepted ..cuz I read "Harvard: rejected" and my dad went absolutely crazy and he said "well then what kinda kids do they want ??" and all this other stuff. sorry I know this is kinda strange and I don't usually go around saying people's stats, but you really did well man, my dad and i both are seriously impressed.

@sarorah and sr6622: thanks :) I think I should go hide now...

I think economics is considered more of a business-oriented major...nevertheless, it does involve a lot of math, particularly if you're going for economic modeling. However, I don't think you'd be hurt by a 700M if you're applying for economics.
