Does SDSU give any scholarships to out of state freshman?

I am sorry he only served 12 months and was in the military for 20 years.

@sdsupride: Are you referring to the Yellow Ribbon program for veterans? SDSU does not participate in this program. You can look up the participating schools for California on this link:

@sdsupride - Many of the educational benefits offered are for students who are dependents of California veterans who were disabled or killed during service. SDSU’s Veterans Center’s website is a great place for information on scholarships and educational benefits available to dependents. Their office is staffed mainly by veterans, and they are a very active presence on campus.

Here’s a list (on the Veterans Center’s website) of educational benefits available to dependents at SDSU: http://arweb.sdsu.edu/es/veterans/ed_benefits.html.

I use the 9/11 GI Bill for my tuition. Here’s what you should know - because SDSU is not a participant of the Yellow Ribbon program, the GI Bill ONLY PAYS FOR YOUR IN-STATE TUITION. The out-of-state tuition, which is roughly around $300+ per credit/semester, must be paid for by other means of financial aid or out of your pocket.

Keep that in mind because it definitely caught us off guard. I have no idea where your dad retired, but if it was in CA, there is an option for Calvet, which takes away all of the tuition, however, if you are not a resident of CA right now, it will be extremely difficult for you to get “residency for tuition purposes”, which is needed for Calvet to work.
