Does SDSU give any scholarships to out of state freshman?

Do they?

SDSU does not give automatic merit aid to OOS students and no need-based aid but you can apply to many scholarships available on their financial aid website.

If you are invited to apply for the Webers Honors college, you can also apply to the Honors College Scholarship.

Ok thank you. I am confused on calculating my GPA. I have taken every A-G course. Do I only put the minimum courses I have completed or do I include extra classes that I have taken that fit the A-G category?

Try here and see if your questions are answered: https://rogerhub.com/gpa-calculator-uc/

Do I not add points though to any honors courses I have taken? Every class I have is honors and 2 Dual-enrollment.

You get extra honors points for the DE courses 10-11th grade but OOS honors courses do not get the extra points.

Ok well I took: Sophomore Year- English II, Geometry, Spanish II, Personal Finance/PE, Speech I, Contempory Issues, Chemistry I, and Algebra II. Junior Year- English III, Spanish III, DE Psychology, Visual Art II, Biology II, Pre-Calculus, US History, and Statistics. Which classes that I listed will be counted in the A-G calculator? Thanks

English II, Geometry, Spanish II, Speech I, Chemistry I, Algebra II, English III, Spanish III, DE Psych, Visual Art II, Biology II, Pre-Calc, US History and Stats. You get extra Honors points for the DE Psych.

Thank you. Do I count any senior year classes I am taking right now. I am taking DE English, Government/ Economics, Environmental Science, and African- American History. I plan to apply on October 1.

I am going to apply to the Speech and Impaired hearing major because they seem to admit more applicants than other majors.

Senior classes are not counted in the GPA since you have not grades?? but you self-report any Senior classes in progress on your CSU application. If you are admitted, then you are a provisional admit and must pass all your Senior classes with a C or higher or face being rescinded.

Just remember, that switching into a more competitive major later may be problematic, so make sure you want to remain in the Speech and Impaired hearing major for the duration. Also SDSU admits all applicants in as a Pre-major and you must meet a minimum GPA requirement to continue on in your upper division classes.

Thank you. I honestly don’t know what I want to study. Should I just put undeclared?

If you are not sure, then I would probably go with Undeclared.
Here is a link on the benefits of declaring a major and more information if you do decide to go Undeclared.

If you want to be a speech pathologist or audiologist…look on YOUR state first for undergrad programs that are affordable.

You will need a masters for speech pathology. For audiology, you would need an AudD which is the equivalent of a doctorate.

I already have a safety. If I don’t end up anywhere in California, then I will attend University of New Mexico because I qualify for in state tuition

@thumper1, sdsupride has already had a couple of conversations in the California section and seems to be concerned primarily with coming to CA, preferably sdsu – and is actually undeclared. As someone who lives in CA and would not move to another state, I can’t blame sdsupride, although I do recommend prudence on the financing of higher ed. The good folks here at CC have already advised on safety schools, better deals, chances, etc. Hope it works out. Please let us know what happens, sdsupride.

Haha. I probably sound pathetic but I just really want to live in California. I am not happy with my live in Tennessee and want something really different.

Not pathetic!! California is a great place. A lot of people have a dream college and just do your best to try to reach yours but keep your options open. People around here can offer some guidance.

Update: My Act is now a 25.

My dad told me this morning that I will qualify for post 9/11 benefits since he served on active duty for 20 years. Does this make a difference in cost for any California school?
