Does Section 5 of the SAT not count toward your grade?

Every SAT has a variable section where Collegeboard tests out and experiments with new questions. Is this section always section 5? If not, is there some way to guess which section is the variable section?

No it is not always section 5. And unfortunately, no there is not a reliable way to determine which section it is. If you could, no one would take that section seriously. But since you can’t, you just have to roll with it and do the best you can on every section.

You can determine which subject matter section is an experimental section.

the OP’s question is whether the experimental section is considered while scoring, and not which section is the experimental one.

The experimental section does not count in the composite score and it is not the same section every time.
