Does Sleeping Bag Weekend add to chances?

I am an international applicant (living in USA) and have applied to CMU's CIT and SCS. I want to know if it is worth visiting CMU for the Sleeping Bag Weekend on January 19 & 20. Specifically, I want to know if my visit will add to my chances of being admitted after already being interviewed by a CMU alumni. I already know a lot about the university from research and my friends who are currently at or are going to CMU.

Thanks.

Yes it would help! It’s not entirely necessary if you’ve already showed interest in other ways but it would always help to do more! CMU lists it as one of the ways to show interest in the school and that goes onto your application when they review it. CMU takes interest pretty seriously from what I’ve seen.

If it’s not too far you should go, not just to get in, but because sleeping bag weekend is really really fun!

I don’t know the answer to your question but I am also going!

Pretty excited!

I’m also going to the sleeping bag this week!

Aaaah! Have fun you guys! Mine was so awesome it convinced me to apply ED :D

If you can manage to go to SBW I would. My S had been accepted to several colleges but did the SBW and that is what made his decision. He enjoyed his time at CMU and even was a little sad it went so fast. Again, go and have fun if you can.

If you’re going send me a PM and we could have a small cc meetup there! I’m super excited! what schools are you guys applying to?

Also, can anyone really tell me how students are chosen to go to diversity weekend? and if it will improve my chances?
