Hello everyone! I'm currently a senior in downstate Illinois, and I just found out about the amazing opportunities available at SMU (I should've researched sooner). Sadly, the deadline passed a month ago, so does anyone know if SMU accepts late applications? I already emailed SMU admissions and my admissions counselor, but the admissions office is closed until Monday at least. I'm also looking to get some sort of merit aid from SMU. I know that this is a tall order, but is there a chance that they will accept my application?

Btw I have a 4.0 GPA and 32 ACT, and I hope to double major in Finance and Journalism.

Their online application portal is still open, which implies that they are still looking at incoming applications. It is a relatively simple application, so it wouldn’t hurt to submit it. Being one month late will probably hurt your chances of receiving merit ait.

Yeah that is question for your admission counselar to answer. Go on the admission website and either call or email them. SMU is an amazing school! I hope you get in!!! Update this tread and let us know.

Thank you for the responses! I received an email from my admissions counselor about a week ago and they said they would accept my application with consideration for most merit scholarships! I applied that night and now I’m just waiting until March 15 (the day he said I would get a decision by). I should’ve updated this thread sooner, but I’ll be sure to keep you guys posted!

I submitted mine yesterday. Do you think they’ll accept it?

My guess is that they will accept it, but it’s important that you contact your admissions counselor ASAP. This is so that you can explain why you missed the deadline, ask any questions, and build a relationship with your counselor. Good luck!

I got my acceptance letter to SMU today with a $20,000 scholarship! I’m very pleased :)

If there was an extenuating circumstance causing your application to be late, be sure and let your counselor know immediately. Good luck and congratulations to all who have been accepted already.
