Does tech let you skip freshmen year if you got enough AP credits?

I will take AP Calc AB or BC and AP Chinese and probably AP Govt. this May,and I will take AP Physics B and C next May,so hopefully by that time i will get enough AP credits, does GT let its students skip freshmen year if he had enough AP credits?

Any input appreciated.

Is that possible to make the tuition and fee less than 100k for the whole college years?

That depends on what you mean by “skip freshman year”… if you come in with enough credits, you will be considered a “sophomore by credit hours” in your first year, yes.

It is possible to graduate in 3 or 3.5 years if you have a lot of AP credits coming in (which will typically count for some general education requirements and maybe one or two major requirements), but it’s not like they let you skip any random intro classes or anything just because you have APs.

In terms of finances, assuming you are paying on a per-semester basis, this does mean you can cut down on it by finishing in fewer semesters :)

things are different from what i expected…ughh…Thank you.

I’ve seen people come into Tech as a junior because of AP/IB/College credits. A few signed up for BS/MS programs and had 2 degrees in 3 years. Not bad if you can make it work.

GP, the only people I know of that were able to do that were in-state people who attended other units of the college system in Georgia for the last half of high school. Apparently there is some special program that allows you to do that.

^

The Accel program is the formal name the USG gave to dual-enrollment between high school and a unit of the USG. One of my good friends came in with 27 AP hours, just three shy of coming in as a sophomore. (He was out-of-state.)

does that mean need 30 hours to become a sophomore.

thanks.

I believe the cutoffs are 30, 60, and 90 for sophomore, junior, and senior, respectively. For class registration, Tech rewards you with higher seniority if you come in with a lot of AP / IB / college credits. For housing, your seniority is determined by time actually spent at Tech. Seniority does play a role within years, however. For example, if Abdul and Joseph are both third-years, but Joseph has 91 total credit hours to Abdul’s 90, Joseph has better priority than Abdul among third-years.

Remember that athletes get super-priority; they always register first for classes and get first picks for housing.

Gotcha,thanks.
