Hey Collegeconfidential, rising senior here and I just got back my AP score.

I got a 5 on my BC Calculus(=D) but a 4 on my AB subscore(D=)
So I'm here wondering if I should be happy or should I defenestrate myself. Does the AB subscore matter for anything and do Colleges care or see it?

Yes they see it, but don’t really care unless you do a lot better in the AB part. In your case, they would look at just the BC score and you would get how many ever credits and skip whatever classes for the 5. And, just a side note that it is weird that you are better at polar, series, parametrics, etc. than limits, derivatives, and area.

My friend was wondering if the AB subscores supersede the AB test? She got a 4 on the AB test, what if she only gets a 3 AB subscore on the BC test next year?

I don’t think so. The 4 on the AB test still qualifies her for credit for first semester of Calculus.

If your AB exam score is higher than the AB subscore, naturally they will consider the AB exam score, which is higher. Generally, schools don’t substitute the AB subscore for credit, although some schools do.
