<p>I've seen numerous adcom members from OTHER schools post. You'll know because it'll say "admissions officer" where membership status usually shows up.</p>

<p>hehe no. benjones and barkowitz are the only college reps on CC right now AFAIK (MIT). they just showed up, news travels fast, the admin verified them, and changed their member level to "College Rep"</p>

It seems Ben Golub and another person from caltech are also admission officers posting around on CC Caltech forum. But they dont yet have the "College Rep" membership level.</p>

<p>Yes, Caltech has long included current students in its admission committees. For sure there are alumni interviewers from most top-echelon schools that read various forums on CC, so you can assume that anything you say here that might be of interest to an admissions officer will be seen by somebody who can communicate to the admissions committee.</p>

<p>Reading apps isn't the only part of an admission officer's job description, and I suppose that there is the rare case of someone's behavior online drawing attention to statements that "don't add up" in an application, in which case occasional lurking on CC might help the apps be read more correctly. I don't know why anyone who is well prepared for the college to which he or she applies should be scared by admissions officers reading what you write online. I rather admire the MIT staff for their openness and willingness to make the application process more transparent.</p>
