Does the concept of safety schools exist for Masters (specifically CS)

Hi all,

I finished undergrad at UC Berkeley majoring in Computer Science. My stats were ok, 3.39 Major GPA and 3.5 overall. If I take a year off to study for the GREs and apply for masters, would there be a risk that I get rejected from all schools, assuming I do alright on the GRE? Is it like high school, for example, where I had an 100% chance of getting into an ok school like Penn State? Or should I have a plan B backup in case I get rejected from all schools? More specifically, I want to study AI for my Masters, which is pretty much needed in order to go into industry in that field.

Yes, of course there is a risk. Just like with undergrad, try to identify match & safety schools along with reaches. Affordability is presumably also a factor to consider.

And don’t take the year off, get a CS job, of course.
