A while ago I was struggling to choose which university to attend between Emory and Georgia Tech. Eventually I decided to do the 3+2 Dual Degree Program, to get a B.S in Applied Physics at Emory, and a B.S in Nuclear Engineering at Georgia Tech. I don’t have concerns about the difficulty of the program, nor the length of it, nor finances. However after hearing some reviews of the Physics department at Emory, that don’t rate it very highly, I’m concerned about the value of an Applied Physics degree from Emory. In terms of graduate school and future employment in advanced technology companies, I think the Nuclear Engineering degree from GT will be the more significant. I would like opinions and advice on the following questions: If I get a B.S in Nuke Eng from Georgia Tech, will the B.S in Applied Physics from Emory further enhance my resume in any way? Will graduate schools or future employers view me in higher regard for having the Emory degree, or does it add nothing beyond what I get from the GT degree?
Do it because you are interested in it, not to enhance your resume. Will you be primarily enrolled at Tech or Emory?
I’ll be primarily enrolled at Emory. The transfer to GT happens after 3 years at Emory, when I’ve completed my GER and major requirements.
