Does the writing score really matter?

Hey guys, im a high school junior and just got my Jan SAT scores back (first time taking the test). I am planning on going to college as an engineering major. Overall my score was 2200 (800M 730CR 670W), and I am very happy with 1530/1600, but i would like to know how much that 670W will affect my college apps. I am planning on applying at some elite schools such as MIT, Stanford, and possibly a few Ivy's. Is my score competitive enough that I will still have a chance at admission based on my GPA/EC's/essays, or should I consider retaking for a higher overall score?

Please consider that my PSAT scores were 216 and 220 sophomore and junior years respectively, and that my CR/W scores have always averaged out at 700. It seems possible that my writing score has leveled off.

Also, if i were to take the test again and my math score dropped off from 800, would that hurt me more than a slightly higher writing score would help? Thanks for the advice!

I'm sure you'll be fine, 1530 is really good.

Go to U Chicago, they don't even look at the Writing score.

If you took it again and your math dropped, it would hurt you more than gaining higher would be. SO dont risk it

thanks for the input. i talked to my GC today and she advised that i stick with this score as well.
