Does this hurt?

In the common app where it has the place to list your academic honors etc. was it supposed to be resume format?

i kinda just listed the awards and for the sake of brevity, some of the less significant and frequent awards i kinda just summarized... like.... i won a bunch of speech contests at school... but they're all the same so i just went like

"Oratorical Awards"

i also didn't list any dates cuz i thought it was a list, but as always AFTER i send in the application i start worrying freaking out

my main concern is that harvard will look at this and think i didn't put any effort int o the application, especially since i submitted the app 15 min b4 deadline... they might think "wow this person probably decided to apply the day of the deadline, he doesn't really care about harvard... it shows in his application -- look at the way vague way he describes his academic accomplishments!"

something to that effect. of course this may be paranoia. I just hope that some of you are the friendy CCers in the Harvard forum can understand the way I'm feeling cuz i'm sure a lot you other RDers may have this post-submission freak out... and in your compassion relieve this particular fear of mine

thanks :) you're all awesome

For Harvard, I just listed about 10 awards that I thought were important. I simply listed them by putting the year before the name of the award. Later on for other colleges I started listing all of them by subject. So Science/Math Awards, Leadership, Music, etc. Its your choice. And no worries, you just didn't put dates before the speech awards.

I left my awards section empty because I didn't know what was suitable.

I sent in my CV though.

=)

I did mine in a paragraph format, explaining in 1 sentence each award.

I categorized it by science/math/other. I left out music (which is a huge chunk of my awards) because it said "academic"

My awards were just in a list form:
-Award 1
-Award 2 (10) - this award is for being alive

That type of thing.
But I didn't actually win an award for being alive.

I know exactly how you feel about post-submission freak out. Last night I submitted Harvard at around 10:20 central time (so 11:20) there but I sent Princeton in 3 minutes before the deadline!!

Yikes.

Haha it seems most people put a date or something like that, but it's not necessasry right?
