I asked this question because my state, there is a special weighted state GPA that takes only core classes into consideration and I was curious if unweighted GPA was also like this.</p>

<p>It depends on the college. Some colleges use your academic GPA, which only includes math, science, history, english, and foreign language(s), while others use your overall GPA (all classes taken). The latter is less common at more competitive schools.</p>
