Does visiting and spending one night at UPENN increase your chances to get into Wharton?

I think that it can show that you were interested enough to come and visit. I also think it will give you personal ammo for your Why Penn essay since you can speak about your own experiences and how you felt on campus. However if you can't afford to go visit campus, just say so in your essay because not visiting for financial reasons won't be held against you. If you live in south Jersey or within driving distance then they might question why you never came.

Do they keep record of your visit? When I visited, I scrupulously filled out every piece of information I could, just in case.

I am International and my parents are saving a lot for me to go to College so visiting for me is hard a bit out of the budget.

Acutally something bad that happened to me is the following:

On the day the UPENN intl admissions counselour came to my school I was VERY sick and I could not attend her sessions and 3 of my friends kept talking to her.

He has particularly shown interest in one of my frineds. Am I in disadvantage?

Should I try and contact him via email?

just let your app speak for itself. I didn't visit at all, speak to any admissions people, or donate 24532465346545 millions of dollars before i applied. it all just depends who are you applying with/against. and you can't help that.

Don't worry that you were sick and remember that the applications were not all IN when the visit occurred. I think you would be surprised at how many kids "feel" or "believe" that the rep was really interested in them......of course not having read the application, not having been to committee, how much this perceived interest translates into acceptance is a question. Don't put a negative pall onto your friends perceptions but rather take heart, write the best essays you can. Try to remember that for a rep to come to your school.....there must have been many applicants/acceptances in the past. I think you can present yourself well and not having the financial resources to visit campus, being ill on the rep day at HS........none of this will put you in or out. Be confident and positive......it is a quality that Penn likes in an applicant.
