Does WashU provide Traveling fee for ALL accepted applicants?

Hi, I am an international student who was accepted at WashU.

My letter got sent to my permanant address in Korea,
although my mailing address is in the United States, and I still live in US.

In the letter, there was no offer of airplane tickets, although I heard that
A LOT OF APPLICANTS got the offer.

Do you know if the tickets are offered for special select groups only?

Those of you who got the offer- what does it say?
Does WashU provide all the traveling fees, including food and place to stay???

Was there anybody who did NOT get the offer for air ticket, while they are living in Americas???

if u r an int’l… Sorry, no offer. Because u applied as an int’l, they dont care whether u live in US or not.

But u can still contact the office and check whether they can offer u something since u now lives in US

My son was accepted and was not offered the travel pkg. We live in Ohio and had visited previously (we also have family in STL, which may have information they got during his visit/tour/interview and noted).

There is another thread on this somewhere. My D visited in the fall, but did get the airfare offer. Not part of a group.

No airfare here. So WashU does not provide travel money for all accepted applicants. No financial aid forthcoming either.

S didn’t get an airfare offer, either. He went on a team visit in the fall. They did give him some merit money, separate from the scholarships he applied for but didn’t get.

My S did get an offer for airfare. He visited last summer. Also, we were told that we did not qualify for aid…no merit money either. If they think that we can pay full freight for Wash U, why on earth would they think we need help with the airfare?

He has already sent in his card to decline Wash U’s kind offer of acceptance. Great school, but it’s not going to work for us.

MaineLonghorn - What kind of merit was it? I thought all they had was the scholarships that you had to apply for?

It came in the financial aid letter. It’s called the Gustav Kurt Mesmer Scholarship. It was named after a long-time faculty member in the Mechanical Engineering department.

^^^ That’s just what they call their need-based awards. Mine was called the Eliot scholarship. They say it’s merit/need based, but I think it’s just need.

Thanks for the clarification.

I got the offer but it said they were committed to providing every Olin student the opportunity to visit. Oh and i didn’t apply for aid. I think it’s partially based on which school you were accepted to.
