Are travel fees provided for the April Welcome Days?

I'm planning on visiting WashU pretty soon this month, and was just wondering if travel fees like flight costs, transportation (taxi or shuttle?) etc. (as well as housing, like hotels and such) were covered by the university. Thanks!

anyone…?

If they were covering the expenses, they would notify you. Though I think it’s mostly the scholarship finalists or people who were invited to multicultural weekend that are having the expenses covered.

You can call and ask…especially if you’re on financial aid or got a scholarship.

I never got anything about Multicultural Weekend, but I sent an email and magically I have a free flight there!! But I did get a scholarship, so maybe they’re just trying to woo me…even though I already sent in my deposit lol.

They loveeee giving out free flights- I’ve been free to Discovery Weekend, Scholars Weekend, and they’re even paying for me to go to Orientation (which even my parents think doesn’t make much sense lol!)

@princessbell: you mean if i just email them and politely request free flights for any event that i wish to attend, they will set it up for me?

I don’t think you can “request” free flights. Some students are offered free visits. I am not sure how they choose them. It is not a purely recruitment tool, as they offer those to some students who were accepted ED, and did not apply for FA…

There ar no hotel accommodations - if you come, you will be hosted by a current student.

I mean, I just sent an email that was very persuasive…I mentioned the fact that I was a scholarship recipient, that my parents had never seen the school, and that I was encouraged by a dean to attend the weekend. I never really asked for a free ticket, I just implied that I knew that they gave out free tickets and voila! like 3 days later Gwins Travel called me and I’m leaving Thursday!

My point is it doesn’t hurt to try to contact them and ask, especially if you have a good excuse for why you need a free flight. Admissions is really nice.
