does your intended major matter?

I'm applying to Notre Dame this year, and I know I'm one of those applicants who is really right on the border and could go either way. I was just wondering if, on your application, they might be more likely to admit you if you were to put, say, theology instead of something standard like biology as your intended major.

For me, I'm interested in double majoring in English and Spanish. Would putting one or the other give me a better chance?

I doubt they take that into account at all, since many students change majors. It’s more of a rough estimate for them. As for the double major vs single: just be honest and give them your current intentions.

It will not help at all - it is too easy to change majors once admitted. This ruse has been suggested numerous times here on CC, so it is not even original.

I would suggest it can even work against an applicant if the application shows a prediliction for science-type activities but the religion major is checked.
