Doing the SAT's and ACT as an adult

I'm just curious. How does your age (I'm a mature student - aged 24) affect how your SAT and ACT scores are viewed by admission panels? Will they think that just because I am older I should be able to score higher than your average 18 year old school leaver?

And second, how do colleges view any retakes? If you have taken the SAT 3 times and did progressively better each time, will they effectively ignore your old scores? And will take take into account the fact that you had to try several times to achieve the highest score?

Doesn’t affect “how it’s viewed”.

Yeah, they do think you should be able to score higher than an average 18-year-old.

Depends on what the college’s policies are. They may use score-choice or they may force you to send in all scores.

No.

At what point would a school not require SAT or ACT? If a 40 year old mom decided to return to school, would she have to sit for the exam? I’ve never seen an “older person” (I don’t mean that 40 is old), sit for an ACT or SAT exam.
