Hi everyone,
So by now you’ve probably heard of USABO, USNCO, USAMO, USAPHO, etc.
Well did you know that there exists such an olympiad for the Earth Sciences?
If you’re one of the many people who are like, “Lol earth science is not even a real science,” consider the fact that from the past two years’ teams alone for Team USA at the International Earth Science Olympiad, 7 have been accepted into Stanford. That’s a higher rate than all the other, more well-known science olympiads. Sooooo consider giving it a shot!
Registration for the United States Earth Science Olympiad (USESO) is now open (until April 10, 2018)! You can register at useso.org.
If you do well on the open exam (which is not hard, considering how little competition there is currently), you can qualify for the camp (just like with every other science olympiad), which is held at the University of Vermont in late June. The camp is where the four people who will represent the USA at the International Earth Science Olympiad (2018 is in Thailand) are chosen.
There are some resources/study guides available at useso.org as well.
Also spread the word to any friends who might be interested!
Good luck
