Dorm Advice

Trying to find the best dorm - any advice appreciated. Incoming freshman from northern suburbs who wants to socialize with fun people, but needs enough quiet to focus on school. Some drinking is ok, but doesn’t want to be around excessive drinking or non-stop partying. Is there a dorm that has a good mix of socializing and focus on studies?

Also, if anyone can share details about “typical” students at each dorm including private housing. For example, heard Hendricks was mostly engineers, FAR/PAR were said to be more international students, Bromley - more sorority/frat types.

I currently live at Hendrick House. Yeah, it’s mostly engineers (I’m STEM myself). If you’re not STEM I’m not sure how much you’d like the atmosphere, although there are a few non-STEM majors who get along just fine (with a little teasing, but I digress). There is a West side and an East side. The West side is very quiet and the East side is more social. There’s some drinking, but not much and no one cares if you don’t drink. But the absolute best part is the food. The food is absolutely AMAZING. Even if I wasn’t STEM I might have picked Hendrick just because of the amazing meal plan.

Also I should probably mention that the guy/girl ration is about 75%/25% as of 2015. This doesn’t really matter though. I’m a girl and it doesn’t bother me at all.
