So, I'm in Goddard and just got my roommate/room assignments (on web and email).

It says: Room Number: GO-0712A-1
Room Type: Triple studio for 3 occupants

As I recall I asked for a double way back when I did the application.

But what exactly is a "triple studio for 3 occupants" anyway? Did I (kinda, sorta) get what I asked for? Is it two rooms with three occupants or one room with three occupants?

My son also got a “triple studio for 3 occupants” at Goddard, having asked for a double. Is there any way to find out more specific info on these rooms? There is alot of contradictory info on the web. For example, on a review site someone wrote that the Goddard triples are extremely small and another person wrote they are really big. The nyu website does not list bookcases as included in the rooms but student pictures seem to have bookcases. Any suggestions on how to find accurate info?

It may depend on the room placement, as some rooms may be smaller or larger depending on where they are in the building. That’s just luck of the draw. I do not believe the rooms come with full fledged book cases, but there should be large desks with built in bookcases.
