Housing Question

Hey, so I found out today that I can now view my room number, room type and roommates' names on my housing application page. I thought this was strange considering I've heard that housing information doesn't go out until August 3. However, I'm in Goddard and I did hear about that early so I guess maybe it's linked to that. I'm unsure as to whether people in other dorms have this as well.

Anyway, my question is about my room type. I found my roommate on facebook so we requested each other a while back. Neither of us wanted to be considered for low cost housing. However, our housing information has a third girl listed as our roommate and this room type designation: "triple/studio/3". I know that Goddard has both triple rooms and triple suites, so I thought maybe it could be the latter since neither of us requested to be considered for a triple. Either that or Goddard places you in a double or triple room regardless of preference. I was just wondering if anyone knew whether this room designation means that we're all in the same room or just the same suite. Has anyone already at NYU experienced a similar situation? Thanks in advance for any help.

hmm. im not sure about this one. it says “studio” in the designation so im guessing you girls are actually in the same room. If you had you’re own that would be really awesome but in my opinion you guys are sharing the same room. But there’s nothing wrong with that. i’m actually sharing a bedroom with someone in a 2 bedroom apt. meaning there’s 4 people in the apt. and one bathroom. trust me, your situation is much better. and if im wrong and you actually share the suite, that’s even more fortunate for you.

Mine lists three people under occupancy information. My room details are “double/2B/3” which I’m presuming is I’m in a double room in the overall room, it had 2 beds, and there are 3 total people.

Btw what room are you in at Goddard? I’m in 516

I’m in 402A, which leads me to believe my room is part of a suite since that’s how the rooms were at 12th Street.

Ah well, guess I’ll have to wait and find out. I can’t even access the page anymore so I guess they took down whatever they had up there. I’ll know in two weeks anyway, I’m just impatient. xD

yeah someone in the goddard facebook group called nyu housing and they said the information that was up is still preliminary and is changing until august 1st. she said yesterday the website said she was in a triple, and today nyu housing said she was in a double. it’s still changing until we actually get our assignments.

Haha I know, the person who posted that is actually my roommate. xD We were both trying to figure out what was wrong and she made some phone calls today.

So where did you find the type of room and number of occupants? I entered and it only states the Building: Goddard + Room: GO-0305A-1…
Do I have to click elsewhere?

Go to ‘Application’. It should say your roommate information and room type at the bottom if it’s been processed. Apparently not everyone’s has though so it may not be there quite yet.

Goddard does not have low cost triple, but have suites that accomodate 2-5 people.

Goddard does actually have triple rooms because when I visited the dorm on the tour the room we went into was a triple. Also, my roommate called the housing department and was told they have both triple rooms and triple suites.

i lived in goddard last year and it was pretty great. i was lucky enough to have the single in a triple suite though. i had friends though in doubles, triples, and suites. all of the rooms are pretty decent and even with four people, sharing a bathroom is doable. don’t be afraid to move the furniture to make more space. some of the rooms are really badly arranged. my suitemates had a dresser in the way from closing the door for weeks before they decided to move it and it worked out perfectly making us wonder why it wasn’t fixed like that in the first place.

Yes Goddard does have triples, but the OP stated he did not ask for low cost triple, and Goddard does not have LCT.

csh- That’s cool. I’m hoping it’s a triple suite and the other girl has her own room. That would be the ideal situation.

milkandsugar - I am the OP, and I’m a girl… And I’m not exactly certain but I think they do have LCTs even if it’s not stated on the housing website, because as I said we visited one on the tour and our guide explained the low cost option. I’m not sure if she was just misinformed, as she didn’t live in Goddard. Either way I guess it doesn’t matter at this point bc we’ll be finding out in a week or two anyway.

My daughter had LCT for freshman year and Rubin, Hayden were on the list, not Goddard.

My son is in the cheapest of all dorms this year 26th street for $8711.

I don’t care if his bed is bunked and it’s not the most convenient. Too bad, welcome to the real world I told him :-)
