Dorm Assignment

What dorm is everyone living in next semester? I'm in Winston!

Morrison South

It's been a while since anyone's posted in this thread but anyway...

I'm in Morrison South too!

For those of you in Morrison South

My son lived in Morrison South (MoSo) last year and will be in the same room again this year. The dorm population includes a large number of scholarship winners (both instate and out of state) many of them in the Honors program, and a few athletes. Its residents appear to respect the place and their fellow dorm mates. There was one incident last year of someone (obviously drunk) setting off a fire alarm in the middle of the night which really ticked off most of the residents whose view was "this is MoSo and things like that just don't happen here."

Rooms are on average about 12x18, beds can be lofted or bunked. It is centrally air conditioned and the semi private baths (shared by your room and the room next to you) are a far cry better than the 8 person suites with the one exception being that you are responsible for cleaning the bath and supplying tp etc. The RAs were very well liked last year with several of them returning this year.

There is a campus bus stop virtually right in front of the dorm and it is a only a short walk to the Ramshead which has replaced Lenoir as the eating place of choice for most MoSo residents who did their best to avoid Chase (which was literally right next door) in the past. The only downside may be construction noise this year from the remodeling being done at Morrison which is right behind MoSo but that will probably only have a impact on those trying to sleep in.

Thanks for the info eadad. It sounds great!

anyone has some info about Connor?
thanks

Its centrally located near the student union and air conditioned--what more could you want. My daughter stayed there for CTOPS and it was fine

how about facilities? bathrooms and all that? how many people are sharing a bath? I've heard most ppl there are sophmores, is it true?

Connor is corridor style with hallway bathrooms but I don't know the ratio. We know of both freshmen and sophomores who are assigned there but know no numbers. It is a good clean dorm, near Davis Library, the student union, Lenior dining hall and the student store as well as most of the classroom buildings and the air conditioning works well. You'll like it.

anyone knows how many ppl are sharing a bath in connor? and any specific info like how's the all around atmoshphere and all that?

I am living in Hinton James.......everybody knows that that is a sucky dorm.....but the upside is that is is right beside the dean dome and after the basketball games all of the students meet up in the courtyard there to party......btw Hinton james shares a bathroom between four rooms.....see ya at Carolina!!

I'm in avery. I wanted Carmichael (spanish house) but this is pretty close by. The Ramshead is right next to Avery and so is the football stadium. I have a few friends at Hinton James. anybody else at Avery?

umm if you want normal friends then live in granville, 99% of south campus people are weird

wow....what a post julz586......if that is correct then i must be in that 1% margin

If I had it to do over again I might have chosen to live on South Campus instead of Granville...the accomodations are nice I guess, but the people tend to be kind of snobby and mean. I've met a lot of cool people on South Campus and the room/suite parties I've been to were great!

hahaha are you kidding me? room/suite parties..not lame at all i swear hahahaha

And posting on a message board about how cool you are compared to South Campus people because you lived in Granville isn't lame? I suppose you think being a frat groupie is less lame? And there were neeeever any room parties or hall crawls when I lived in Granville, I sweaaaaaar hahahahaa

And you wonder why Granville has a bad rep (well, I guess you probably don't, but other people who live there do)
