Dorm Charges

On my bill It says I was charged $3,846 for a double room + dining. This equals $11,538 per year and not $10,186. I thought the dining plan was already included in the price. Can anyone clarify this for me please?

this is strange, my billing statement charged me for a doubles dorm + dining but i actually have a triple’s dorm… i need to call to inquiry about this problem.

^they charge everyone for a double at first and then make the necessary changes later. this info was in an email they sent us a couple of weeks ago.

also, if you check the schedule of rates on the UCSD Housing page, the numbers are close. they probably havent deducted the 650 from your cost yet, so the 3846 cost for the quarter becomes 3196 after the deduction. its even under than the 3217 predicted for a double on the schedule of rates. its all good.

^^^Yeah but the price of $3,846 is about $500 more than that of a single. I initially thought this was because of the $650 deposit but this has already been subtracted from my total.

my quarter charge for housing went to 3186 now. and the 650 deduction is not on the bill anymore. buut im sure they’re going to drop the charges when it gets to winter and spring so the total comes out the same. the schedule of rates says the 10,980 for a single is already with dining dollars included so i wouldnt worry too much over it i think.

just a question, but for orientation…is that charge added under the dorm charges? because i can’t find a separate category where it would fit under, and they did charge us for staying in the dorm right?
and if you subtract the orientation cost, that might equal the right amount too?

for marshall, they had a separate orientation charge.
im not sure about the other colleges though.

So my dorm charges are still $3,836 and now an additional $260 for a single room and dining… Isn’t this a little too much?
