I got a single room, but on the bill it says this:

"08/31/10 Qtrly Install DBL Rm+Dining"

... Can someone clarify this? Why would it say double room if it housing said I received a single room?

it will recharge you the difference later. they charge everyone for a double at first no matter what room you actually have.

in an email they sent, UCSD said they would be charging everyone for a double initially, but once everything is settled, they will account for over/under charges

“IMPORTANT: All incoming first time freshmen residents will initially be billed for a Residence Hall/Double Room as the campus billing statement will be released before room assignments are complete. Once your room assignments are uploaded, billing adjustments will be made to correct any under or over billing.”

that’s the exact statement from the email

… oops
I thought I had read that somewhere. haha
Thanks!

wait a minute, what is everyone else being charged? Mine says 3,846.00 as a quarterly payment for housing, which is ridiculous. Becuase if you mulitply that by 3 (three quarters in a school year) then that 11,538, which is more than a single room. What is going on? Do they charge more the first quarter, than for the other two quarters?

That’s with dining plan…

sigh… freshmen these days get paranoid over everything.

Wth…dining plan isn’t already calculated into the housing rates??? Darn… :(

Yeah, they bill you more 1st quarter because they also include the cost of the deposit. The $650 housing deposit will eventually be credited towards your 1st quarter housing bill.

The default dining plan is calculated into the housing rates so you don’t have to pay more unless you want to.
