Dorm choices, Forbes?

Hey, I was wonder what people thought about the different dorms at Pitt. I picked Forbes as my top choice, Towers, then Sutherland. Are the located close to classes, is it easy to meet new people, how big are the rooms?

yeaaaaaaaah i would like some info on the dorms as well, which ones are located near the honors college, friendliness / diversity of people, etc… if anyone would be kind enough to enlighten us haha

I’d put Towers first, it’s really the center of campus and I think the easiest way to meet people. I lived in towers and absolutely loved it. The honors college is on the top floor of the cathedral which is right near towers but also close to Forbes hall (nothing on lower campus is very from anything else) so distance-wise there’s no worries. They’re also building a new dorm now but I’m not sure if it’s going to be done by the fall, although since it’s new I’m assuming it’s gonna be really nice and it’s across the street from towers and he quad. Sutherland is nice and people like it but being up the hill is a pain. I don’t know much about Forbes, it used to be honors dorms but I think it’s now engineering mostly and I’ve heard it’s nice but not as central.

Forbes is SPACE (aka Engineering) housing only. You have to apply to get in.

Sutherland is UHC (aka Honors) housing only. You also have to apply to get in.

Towers is open to all, although Tower C is singles only.

Distance to UHC hardly matters because it’s in the Cathedral and is really a placeholder (i.e. only the dean and advisors are there, honors classes take place all over campus). I’d say Sutherland and Forbes would have the biggest diversity because they’re UHC and Engineering housing respectively. My freshman year, Forbes was definitely the most diverse dorm (way more diverse than Pitt itself). The engineering housing was so/so in diversity (more Asian and African American students than Pitt itself) and the rest of housing was predominantly Caucasian (which is what Pitt is).
