Does Yale have dorm curfews for undergraduates?

i am a student at yale and no, there are no curfews for when you have to be back in your room or a time when visitors need to leave or anything like that.

This is an awesome thing about Yale. We don't have security guards sitting at desks at the bottom of our buildings. We don't have RA's trying to catch us doing something bad. You're totally free to do absolutely anything and EVERYTHING you want. My friends that have come and visited were shocked about this, especially one of them who goes to NYU who just got caught with alcohol by an RA the night before and has to write an essay to the disciplinary board about why he shouldn't drink.

Thanks!

What about guests (as in people who do not go to Yale)?

That is AMAZING.

You're treated like an adult. If you have a guest, just talk it over with your suitemates and agree to what's best. That's all.

We always had OOT guests over, athletic recruits, and lady visitors. Just let us know beforehand so I don't walk in on your girlfriend taking a shower! LOL

curfews? RAs?
what IS this malarkey?

we have frocos (freshman counselors), who are the chillest seniors that live with freshman housing to give you advice. They don't enforce any rules unless it's something terribly ridiculous.

wow this sounds SO cool. it's so.. independent!

Halcykon - nice to hear a positive comment on the frocos.

D is a froco, as are many of her friends, and they are having a great time back on old campus with the frosh.

I'm a freshman and I second the we love frocos sentiment! They really are an invaluable resource and so much fun, and I couldn't imagine my freshman year thus far without them.

And yeah, no curfews or visitor restrictions or anything.

Great to be treated like a responsible adult, hope noone abuse this Privilege, it’s only take 1 bad apple to ruin it for others.

Even if some have abused this, Yale is confident in its decades long policy of trusting its undergrads. A few dopey frosh each year isn’t gonna alter this. I’m sure I and my buddies stretched this in our day as well.

Thanks for the info T26E4!
