Dorm Decorations

Hey, current UVA students, or smarter incoming first years! My roommate mentioned getting some Christmas lights to put around our dorm room, but I wasn't sure if that was allowed under UVA's decorating policy. I couldn't find anything to specifically apply to it in the rules, so I thought I would ask you guys! Does anyone know if it's allowed?

Christmas lights are a great addition for decoration as long as you don’t string too many together!

Most RA’s are pretty lax with decorating rules as long as you don’t create a real hazard.

This is true, but the random fire inspectors are not. They do let you know a date range they are coming… But getting fined when you have a roommate is not exactly a good idea first year. By my 4th year I had curtains, wall hangings, and all sorts of other non-code stuff but my first year I was a lot more cautious.
