dorm furniture that stores well???

So I want to buy some furniture for my dorm this school year. I haven't in the past because I live far from campus and would have to spend lots of money storing it over the summer. However, I really want to buy some things and wanted to know if anyone knew of any stores that sell easily storable items like tall lamps that can fold up really small or chairs/futons that can fold up and fit in a small box (without disassembling)? I am looking for seating and lamps and other bigger item stuff like that. Do you guys have storage problems too?

I've never heard of anything of that sort. Have you tried searching the internet?

It's really not that hard to move the stuff you mentioned. All you have to do is find a friend with a truck and say "hey if I give you some money, will you help me load it and then take it to the storage place?" and you are done.

A futon that folds into a "small" box without disassembling???

That definitely seems like a pipe dream to me. Any structure strong enough to support human masses in two different positions wouldn't be easily "folded," and the box would be incredibly heavy.

You could search the internet like OKgirl suggests, but I wouldn't hope to find anything. The better idea would be for you to design, patent, and sell it to become wildly rich. I'll be order #1.

Lawn chairs. ;)

I would think that a lamp like you describe, if it doesn't exist, should. It should be pretty easy, just make it like those kids light sabers that extend, only out of harder materials.

Checked out IKEA. The furniture is cheap and comes in flat packs.

Urban Outfitters has the best furniture!!!!! btw IKEA sucks, my bed is so scratched up that its not even presentable.

I never said it was great funiture-- just cheap!

Most people buy futons and get rid of them at the end of the year. very few people keep them.
