So... I'm going to Colby in the Fall, and the paperwork hasn't exactly come in YET but I was wondering if anyone had any information on which dorms to avoid X_x... and which ones I should try and get into :P. It'd be nice to know, even if I'm terribly early.

And as a side note, I'm from California. Is there some specific must-have-this-or-die wear for the Winter? Other than the obvious "a really good coat." Any other advice you've got would be real good times too, but you know... Whatever is out there XD.

A sturdy pair of hiking shoes/boots that double as snowboots in the winter (some sort of L.L. Bean, Solomon, Hi-Tech, or Ugg/imitation) are nice.

All the dorms are great, in my opinion. For Chem-Free, pierce is probably the most coveted and, after that, Mary Low. Other than that...they're all great. Hillside is "ugly" on the outside, but fine on the inside, and the small size of the complex builds a nice community feeling. I'd recommend anything on frat row. Try as hard as you can to avoid Heights and Colby Gardens, only because they are the farthest away.

West and East Quad are generally nice as well.

I guess, just go anywhere, heh, every dorm here, I find, is nice.

i'm going to colby in the fall too, but i'm from massachusetts and the weather is barely a change for me...my advice would probably be to bring some bring fleecey blankets and a little hot water heater for your room.
as for dorms, it sounds like you can't go wrong - they are huuugeee compared to some other schools i looked at - but i liked frat row the best just in terms of campus location and stuff.
see you next year i guess? haha
