is where I'm going to live this year. It can't be that bad, right? It's all suites, which I think is pretty cool. Why do people say it's one of the worst dorms on campus?

It's not a beautiful dorm, but frankly, few of the frosh dorms are. The important thing is that it is one of the most SOCIAL dorms on campus. You'll love it :)

It's considered one of the worst because it's old, cramped, and dirty like no other. But that's really not a big deal at all; it's easy to get used to. The people there are what make a dorm important.

what's being in a single like? i was super bummed when i found out....

To add to Jumbosox's list, there is also a rodent problem. I'm not kidding, sometimes you can hear the sounds of mice in the overhead boards while you're in bed. I've also seen a few scurrying around in rooms. Also, some say the brick walls are ugly. See facebook group: Prisoners of Haskell Unite!

However, being in a suite means that you'll get to know the people around you pretty well. It should be fun if you focus on the people and not on the place.

WW -

Being in a single isn't bad at all. In fact, when everyone's settled, I think you'll appreciate having some personal space. If you're in Haskell, you'll definitely have you're suitemates to hang out with!

Be sure to invite friends over too!

haha seems like we future haskellers got the short end of the stick as far as dorms go...oh well.....are there any other pros besides being really social?

Yeah, I'm a afraid you did. But I also think you'll remember the social aspects of freshman year more than how nice your dorm was, etc.

Other pros: Being close to both Dewick (downhill dining hall) and Hodgdon (take-out place). You'll also be close to the chemistry lab, so if you're taking science classes, you're all set! The bathrooms end being almost like private bathrooms because of the way Haskell rooms are grouped into suites. That's kind of nice because you can just leave your shower caddy in the bathroom.

I believe I added an orange stain to the carpet when I killed one of those disgusting orange bugs my sophomore year...you've been warned. Look outside 330, 313 or 303...I can't exactly remember as it was on the third floor in the middle section. Tufts really REALLY needs to fix that if they haven't done so already. My roommate and I only saw those critters once, but it only took once for us to be scarred forever.

The one positive or so was that you're really close to all the buildings downhill and don't have to walk very far to eat. I hear hodgdon's takeout food venue got a makeover and looks a lot nicer than before. You're also close to Teele square if you want to go out to eat within walking distance. Try the Tibetan food place if you get the chance, the momos (tibetan potstickers) and lentil soup are really awesome. You even get an amusing lesson on Tibetan oppression by the chinese government on the menus while you wait for your food.

...orange bugs?

.............

does the fourth floor have any sort of critter problems?

I don't know. It's been 4 years since I've lived there - I've paid my dues, and you are about to too! Just think of it this way, it can only get better from here on out.

Exactly! Have a fun freshman year. :)
