Dorm items

So what are some common mutual dorm items, something that only one roommate would need to bring for both to use? I'm talking with my roommate right now and we can't come up with much beyond a TV and a fridge/microwave, which we have to rent through the school anyways. Anything else important that we're not thinking of?

I wouldn't recommend sharing a printer. Too much battle over who deserves to pay for ink, paper, etc (you won't both use the same amount unless you're taking all the same classes, and even then your assignments might be different lengths

Some colleges provide the phone... wait til you get there for that one.

Sharing a printer worked just fine for my roommate and me last year. I brought the printer, and then we split the cost for ink and paper. One month when I used a ridiculous amount of ink to print off readings for one class, I reimbursed her partially. It was fine.

vacuum......

Tape and a stapler.

^what the...haha.

a full length mirror is nice for the two of you to have.

Screwdrivers. You never know when you might need one to, say, remove a battery cover. Make sure you have both a regular and a Phillips head, and if you wear glasses keep the eyeglass screwdriver handy as well.

Hey cool thanks for the ideas guys...just wondering what would be a good sized TV to get? Obviously nothing huge since space is an issue, but you do need to be able to watch it...

really, 13 inches is just fine for most people. usually 17 is pretty good for a dorm room.

Don't share a printer. I paid $30 at Walmart for mine, and it works fine. I'm a perfectionist. I HAVE to fix even the tiniest mistakes, which occassionally means printing things several times. I'd feel bad for monopolizing shared ink.
