Really, I've been living in hill for the last two semesters, and I couldn't imagine living anywhere else freshman year. Most of my quad friends just know the people one or two doors down from them, while I'm friends with people all over my floor. There's literally 8 lounges per floor and someone's always in them, so you can always find someone to ***** to about 4:00 am work or play some mario kart or beer pong (although this one is only if you know your GA is out, or if your GA is cool and doesn't care).

The quad is nice for the rooms, but hill is great too.

i agree. once again, as a quad guy, i'm still like advocating hill as a choice (though i still feel quad should be your first couple of picks). in the quad, you get sweet rooms (im on a top floor so my room is huge), air conditioning, when the weather is nice its INCREDIBLE to be in the quad, and that ivy-league type housing you dream of.

HOWEVER, it's true, you only really get to know the people that live in your hall, unless you're a true social adventurer. The actual living environment is conducive to getting know like 20 or so people REALLY well. But in Hill, all the halls are connected, so there are hundreds of people living per mega-hall, as opposed to the 20 people living in a normal quad hall. But then again, Hill rooms suck. A lot.

I live in Hill but I don't like it. The rooms are pretty crappy. And yes, it's social, but if you don't really connect with your hallmates, then eh, you're still in a crappy dorm. I mean people do hang out in lounges but not all the time by any stretch of the phrase. Most of the time they are empty from what I see. They tend to be occupied before midterms when people are studying. But meh whatever. I would have liked the Quad more.

Well all I know is, when I went to Hill I was disappointed in many respects. When I went to the Quad atop McClellan Hall or whatever it's called, looking out over the huge field and Quad buildings around it, it felt like that was what college housing was supposed to be like. It's really pretty there, I think. At night it feels a lot like Princeton's campus in my opinion.

Do people in the college house residential prog. live on the same floor?.... do they kind any special kind of rooms..as in, are the rooms more spacious than others, or a single?

Go look at the upenn.edu/housing site for yourself- they have amazingly detailed precise specs on each hall. Quad is a 3-4 floor building cut into 3 sections- each program is 1 section on all 3-4 floors.

people deciding on housing, although quad is great and all I would definately consider putting hill up there. I have a single in the quad as a freshman and honestly, i hate it mostly because I have a really antisocial hall. There are obviously some great parts of the quad with really social people but in hill you are guaranteed a great social atmosphere. So yeah the quad is pretty good, but in my opinion, for freshman year, hill might be more fun so don't discount it just because of the lack of AC since most people don't spend that much time in their rooms anyway

right yeah, once again, i agree. quad is sweet, but if you get hill, don't freak out. cuz though rooms and AC are in the negative there, it's got its positives too.

So if someone put down quad for their first few choices and then Hill, how easy is it by the third or fourth round to get a Hill single? Because aren't the Hill doubles only 10 x 13 or something like that?

Stouffer stinks. It's isolated and the people who stay there are considered a little socially off. It's a mistake to live there and many people who did live there say that.

After my freshman year i would say, quad before hill, WITHOUT QUESTION. If you've ever been in a Hill bathroom, you would know exactly why, seriously.

the Stouffer Mayer rooms with kitchens and living rooms are not good choices. I know girls who have one of those rooms and ALL THREE SHARE THE BEDROOM!!!

So Quad, then Hill, but regular stouffer only if you want to be right next to the quad and live in a single

Good question. Actually, after the Quad, it is all about what you want...

Hill- Very close community, even if you have a single, very close to engineering and Bennett Hall (English Building), you feel you absolutely need a dining hall in your building

Highrises (Harnwell, Harrison, Rodin [Hamilton]_
-Feel you need a kitchen and living room
-HUGE ADVANTAGE for housing in coming years when you're going to want to live in apartment style housing
-Don't like the feel of traditional dorms (meaning you want private baths, lol)
-Near Frats and all the stores of 40th street

Dubois
-Like highrises, apartment style living
-Sense of Community
-For Black students, this is the Mecca of Black Student life, not even joking. So if you're a black student and want to live with several other black students seriously consider living here.
-Near Frats and 40th street shops

1.The Quad is the clear #1
2. Hill, b/c you will meet so many other freshmen
3. Highrises, JUST because of the advantage of living there in future years
4. Dubois, much higher if you're a black student (note: Black students are not the majority in this dorm)
5. King's Court because the rooms are so big
5. Stouffer - tied because of its location (next to Quad) and many singles.
7. Gregory - Think singles in an apartment that share a bathroom (no kitchenette or living room)
8. Stouffer Mayer - Just trust me on this one, something not right about that dorm, just don't waste one of your picks on it.
