thanks. any photos of Hayden and Weinstein?

Stay away from Weinstein. LOL. I stayed there this summer and let me tell you, it's not the best place. There are better options. If you want similar opinions ask sdsparks and littlebeach, who also stayed there.

Yeah, listen to Bkiddo25, don't stay at Weinstein, just don't do it!!!! We stayed there for a month this summer and that was plenty of time, any longer would be really horrible.

What is the best dorm for frosh then? Also, can anyone explain to me the dorm system in NYU? Like meal plans and stuff?

I would say, from what I've heard from NYU students, that Hayden is the best.

in what aspects? social...room...

i basically want a dorm that is not so distractive so studying (maybe some fun sometimes) and well-accomodated rooms

Legionaire--

The post I made (on the livejournal housing community) concerning Hayden resulted in over twenty posts. There are about 10 or so pictures (from varying users) of Hayden. It's very helpful!

thanks. But i couldn't find any pictures of Hayden on there.

jhpark - I completely agree. I'm a social person in the sense that I like to meet a lot of people and just chill, but I'm not going to be one of the people running around the halls at 2 am drunk off their asses.

I'm considering Rubin as my top choice right now. From what I've heard, it seems like the perfect blend of social and not-too-social. Any thoughts?

Maybe I'm wrong b/c I've never stayed at an NYU dorm..but from visiting my brother and sister at college you're not ever going to have a completely quiet dorm.

I'm one of those people that needs complete quiet when i study..so I'll be studying at the library..when I went for a tour the guide told my group that the higher you go are the different levels of quietness..and that the math library is always really quiet

I think I want as social of a dorm as I can get..so prob hayden ill do.

dorm photos are totally pointless....all the rooms are different sizes\set ups...some are just douubles, some are triples, some are quad suites, some are squint suits...with the suits, some share bathrooms, some don't...etc etc.

what're the dorms they show us on campus tours?

I only saw Goddard on the tour and that is all Explorations. Do students tend to enjoy Explorations dorms or not?

Why is Weinstein a bad choice? Too bad....i was looking at that one. I just want one with workout facilities. Any suggestions?

HaloThruTheMud-- I am considering the University Hall. When I was in Georgetown University for summer college, the dorms werent too distractive. There were people banging on other ppl's doors at 2 and going crazy, but I found it to be livable. I guess its just the matter of adjusting-if you are really distracted, u have to find a new diff approach such as using the library effectively.

How do we get to assingned to dorms anyways? Do we have a choice or is it all random?

ED kids get to dorm preferences- at a certain date, you'll be able to chose your housing selection- everyone gets to state, in order, the one they want most, second, third, etc....but if you are regular decision, you will not necessarily get your preference.

In terms of specific dorms, people can either have a traditional dorm (no kitchen), or apartment style (kitchen, common room- only 3rd North and UHall have this for freshman).....people seem to love the dorm THEY are in the most, so saying which is best is a TOTAL opinion- I'm in 3rd North- rooms are tiny, but great location- no counter space in the kitchen, but to having a kitchen is wonderful- it's very social and the courtyard is awesome.

Thanks. Hearing from current students really helps.

Btw. which dorm has the best location (not much outside noise, yet convenient access to places, which one has gyms?)

Also, if u live in an apartment, do they have cafeteria in the building or do you have to go to another hall's cafeteria?

Thnks NYU Bound
