If anybody is interested in pictures of Hayden Hall, you can check out some pictures of my room at this little site I made.

I'll bump this thread every once in a while, as admissions come in. Good luck everyone!

OH! Thank you:) I love seeing pictures of lived-in dorms :) makes it more real.

Thanks for the photos!

Is Hayden the freshman dorm?

Don't mention it. Hayden is indeed one of the freshman dorms, and it's located on Washington Square West. Clearly the best one. I have an "illegal" kitchen to make up for what I would've had in UHall. Don't live in UHall as a Freshman. It's nicer, but you want to be around the park as a Freshman. You can get Union Square dorm with a kitchen as a Sophomore.

Very nice pics, that dorm looks quite nice. Is that a standard 1 room, 2 person dorm?

hayden is very hard to get cuz every freshman puts it first choice. ill post some pics of my room in third north a little later. also go to livejournal.com and type in nyu then go to nyu housing and you'll find a lot of pics

It's the back room of a corner suite (4 people). It's two rooms and a bathroom.

Aaron, would that room be comparable to what you'd get if you got a standard 2 person room at Hayden?

What are the pros and cons of the 4 person suites? I know you get the extra room in between with a dining area, but is the bathroom usage a little hectic with all those people in the same apartment?

I'm guessing this is for your IT class?
Well, mine is better. :)

Pics of Hayden and FAQs.

yanksbgood - Hayden is not apartment style. There is no dining area.

haha, no actually Aaron's site is more aesthetically pleasing...but your picture is hotter...haha!

UnrealFire, sorry what I meant to say is are all rooms in hayden the 2 rooms 1 bathroom, config or are their standard 2 person rooms with one bathroom? Also, does it get crowded sharing a bathroom among 4 people?

hahha oh boy....if youre worried about sharing the bathroom with 3 other people, just remember that most colleges still do community bathrooms....we're lucky with whatEVER we get at nyu!

....Explorations. what is it? what does it entail? does anyone know someone who has done it? did they like it?

explorations floors are themed floors. for example they have a drama themed floor, a south asian themed floor, a graffiti themed floor. there are a bunch in different buildings

All rooms, whether they have 2, 3, or 4 people have their own bathroom. While I have to share with 3 others, the size of and view from my room totally makes up for it. We also all have our first classes at 11, but we made a shower schedule, so it's not too bad. Also, the chance of that happening (classes coinciding) isn't too high. Also, you won't have a choice of room, so don't worry about it.

Here's a link to the NYU housing lj. You can get lots of information there. Also, Aaron's last sentence is the important thing here. You will not get to choose a specific room so put that out of your mind right now!

do people LIKE the explorations floor? are they fun to be in?

is hayden one of the more expensive dorms?

i asked some ppl on the nyu lj community about explorations floors and heard that they are fun and you get to do a lot of cool stuff, but that you have to live in a suite with a lot of people (the example i remember was for the film one at 3rd north, and cited that there were 11 other people in the suite. so 6 rooms, 2 per room, and she said they still only had one bathroom). so its kind of a trade off. i dont know if its any different for the other exploration floors.

also, here is a list of housing costs: http://www.nyu.edu/housing/payments/rates.html

and wow. theyve definitely raised the prices on all the freshman dorms sometime within the last 2 weeks. this sucks.

scrapnel, the proposed costs for the following year always come out in March. The numbers you would have been looking at previously were this year's costs. Count on an increase EVERY year.
