Hey, everyone. I have some questions I'd like to ask about UB.
1. I paid my deposit in on April 18. I realize that is a little late. I'm planning to go for a quad with bathroom, but now I'm not really sure. Is the quad a bit bigger than a double? What would you suggest I go for and what's typically given to people that submit deposits around the time I submitted?

I was trying to set up my UB account and they told me I would get my single-use password in the mail. I haven't gotten it yet. Should I call and ask about it?

I don't know if anyone would know about this, but I want to continue piano playing in college. Are there teachers or something? (Are there even pianos?)

Thanks in advance! =)

Re: dorm choice it seems probable a South Campus assignment is likely from what i’ve read here.
My D is waiting for her password also from around the same time as you

Check out the UB website for the music dept and any e mail links to inquire about practice rooms for piano & info on music opportunities even if you are not a music major.

I have a friend at CIT and they are getting swamped with these calls. It appears many people haven’t gotten their passwords. Admissions is in charge of sending them out. I would just wait unless you have an immediate need for your UBIT account, you should get it eventually.

Definitely contact the music department in terms of teachers and possible piano use. There are pianos in most of the dorms, however I can’t vouch for the condition of them. The one where I live is pretty beat up - terribly out of tune, some keys take more pressure than others, etc. There are people that play it somewhat regularly. I’ve used it a few times but haven’t really kept up on playing, I’m hoping to get back into it over the summer.

Thanks for the responses!
Yea, I saw a list of dates of deposits and what dorms were received somewhere in this forum. If anyone has a link to it, that would be much appreciated.

As far as I recall, last year the residence website stated that girls who deposited by the end of Feb were likely to get their first choice/Ellicott, for boys it was by mid March. Those who waited until April/May would likely be placed on South campus, unless there was an additional factor such as EOP, Acker, honors, LLC (those are sometimes open longer or guaranteed a spot by the nature of the program).

The quads are much larger than the doubles and you can submit a change request (procedures are listed on the residential site) but it may not be honored until after classes start. At that point, you can accept the change or may decide to stay put!

I most likely won’t get into Ellicott then…Maybe next year then. Thanks for answering.
