Dorm rooms at Marymount

I was wondering if anyone had experience with the freshman dorm rooms. I was told that up to 7 students would be in 2 bedrooms and share a kitchen and bath. I can’t picture 7 girls getting ready for class in the morning sharing one bathroom. Does anyone know a student there and could you share their experiences? thanks.

I am also curious about the dorms.

I talked to someone yesterday who knows a student there. She didnt stay in the dorms very long as they were too crowded. Her mom was upset as she paid for the year. The girl actually moved out to a friends apt. in NYC. There are bunk beds set up and one bathroom and a small kitchenette. My niece went to Kean in NJ and they actually had to remove the bathroom door (4 girls in the dorm room) as there was one girl who took her time in the bathroom every morning applying makeup, taking and shower etc. with no consideration for the other girls. My niece said there were some mornings in the beginning with this girl that she had to go to class without taking a shower. They ended up getting the girl out of their room and found a better room mate. I really cant see why Marymount has up to 7 girls in one dorm, that seems like way too many.

7? In how many rooms?

The freshman dorms (55th street) are really very nice as far as dorms go. Each suit has 4 to 7 people in it. There are 2 bedrooms, a small common area, a kitchen (with fridge, sink and stove top) and a bathroom (rooms with more than 4 people have an extra sink and mirror in the common area).

And just for clarification, there are only 2 or 3 suites that fit 7 people.

I lived there for a year and had no problems. Much preferred it to a traditional dorm.

thanks for the clarification!

Mackie -

My daughter and I just got back from a tour of MMC this weekend. The 55th Street residence was very nice (as far as dorms go!). There are 2 bedrooms in an apartment style suite with a full bathroom, kitchenette with microwave, stovetop, full size fridge and a small table with 2 chairs. We were told (but did not see) that there were suites with 3 bedrooms and 1 and 1/2 bathrooms which housed up to 7 students.

The only thing that really got to me was the 16 block walk to/from the college to the dorms - but I'm old and my daughter is young! It won't be a problem for her. The area is VERY nice and felt safe to me.

Hope that helps you.

Thank you OscarJ for the info. Good to hear from someone who actually lived there.

LAWoman, great infomation! Thank you.
