Dorm Rooms

How does it work as far as coed, girls, and guys floors?
Or is everyone just mixed in?

Are there curfews or any crazy rules?

Sierra Madre - same sex on each floor; every other floor is girls/boys. I think Yosemite is half floor girls/half boys.

I’m bumping this. I want to know about any crazy rules too.

(Also, which dorms are the most social?)

Crazy rules… Hum, back when I was in the dorms, it was against the rules to have cardboard in your room. Yes, cardboard. I think they got rid of that one though.

Other, “crazy rules”

  • No Gambling
  • No storage of car or motorcycle parts or fuel
  • “The use of sports equipment including, but not limited to, boxing gloves, frisbees, all
sports balls, baseball/softball bats, rackets, skateboards, roller blades, roller skates,
scooters and golf clubs, is prohibited in on-campus housing”
  • All postings (posters, etc) must be preapproved
  • Resnet’s wacky rules, like the stuff that Cisco Clean Access imposes.

There are normal rules, like the ones forbidding the possession of alcohol or being under the influence (or, to be wacky again, to be in the presence of those drinking) too. Read the handbooks for yourself:
[Community Standards Policies - University Housing - Cal Poly](http://residentiallife.calpoly.edu/rl_csp/community_standards.html)

Realistically, only a handful of folks get busted. But, if you do get busted (even if you didn’t do anything wrong), they do not play by the rules. You are warned…

So, when it says:

“The use of sports equipment including, but not limited to, boxing gloves, frisbees, all
sports balls, baseball/softball bats, rackets, skateboards, roller blades, roller skates,
scooters and golf clubs, is prohibited in on-campus housing”

I take it you can’t bring your own basketball to SLO? Or like your own tennis racket, golf clubs, etc? And in order to get that stuff, you’d have to rent it from there?

I read the rule as forbidding the “use of” not the possession of this stuff. Hard to believe you would be busted for owning a set of golf clubs but taking a divot in the carpet might be another matter.

Usually sexes are either seperated by floors, wings of a building, or room by room (Yosemite). I also know that you can have any guests in your room for 2 days at a time, after the fourth day they have to pay 10 dollars every day they stay.
